My research is in developing algorithms for genetic imputation, particularly in crops. Faster and more accurate imputation can help to accelerate improvement in crop breeding programmes. I will be working with the commercial plant breeder, KWS SAAT SE & Co. KGaA.

Hidden Markov models show a lot of promise in imputation algorithms and I intend to use these and other models to handle the complex structures in crop pedigrees (for example, due to inbreeding, selfing, backcrossing etc.).
