Coffee breaks during COVID-19

AlphaGenes and HighlanderLab are aware of the importance of social interaction, so we continue to enjoy coffee breaks with each other while we work from home.

The Alphagenes and Highlander Lab participated in an Escape room last weekend. The group divided in two and battled against each other to escape first. We all had a great time and although not everyone escaped the pirates, we still finished with smiley faces.

Afterwards we celebrated our victory (or loss) together and had a lovely dinner at Chez Jules. We finished our night full of good food and an excellent experience.

The Edinburgh Winter 5K run

The Alphagenes “run4fun” team joined the Edinburgh Winter 5K Run event last weekend. The weather was not promising at the beginning, but during the run we enjoyed the sun and a rainbow. We all finished with smiley faces (well most of us did).

Looking forward to many more!

X-mas Lunch

AlphaGenes Group enjoyed good food and company at the Apartment this year.

We continued with mini golf at the Vulcano Falls Fountain Park where the team with young players were far ahead before the other side. The night was still young for some of us, so we decided to sample a few brew goodies.

The Sheep Heid Inn

AlphaGenes combined fantastic food & drink with the good old-fashioned fun in the Skittle Alley at The Sheep Heid Inn.

No need to mention who won at the end, The Better One’s team of course.

Octobeer Mini-fest

AlphaGenes attended Octobeerfest just down the road at Stewart Brewing. We had a great night welcoming new group members and sampling their inventions. Well, most of us…

AlphaGenes BBQ

Due to really nice weather in Scotland AlphaGenes decided to have BBQ at the Bush Estate.

AlphaGenes had another Social event on Sunday. We met in front of the Scottish Sea Bird Centre in North Berwick and continued walking along the beach to the lovely Milsey Bay before we reached Tantallon Castle. Tantallon Castle is the last medieval curtain wall castle to be constructed in Scotland and played an important part in Oliver Cromwell’s invasion of Scotland in 1651. From the castle, there are lovely views across the Firth of Forth to the Bass Rock, home to a large colony of gannets.

Weather was really amazing (for Scotland of course!) and we were all tired and hungry by the time we returned back to North Berwick. Decided to have lunch and beer at the Rocketeer Restaurant. We could not resist amazing and very well deserved ice cream at Alandas Gelateria after lunch.
